Poverty

Poverty is something which deprives someone from living a life without suffering from the lack of money, food, medical care, and more. In some cases there are those who suffer from poverty because they do not have proper clothing, food, shelter, clean water, and much more. People do not choose to live in poverty. In many cases society causes it. There are those who do not make enough money, for whatever reasons, to climb out of the pit of poverty to make a better life for themselves. In many cases there is health problems which prevent them from doing better or getting a better education in order to better the lives of themselves and their families.

According to the World Bank, people living under extreme poverty is considered to be those who are living on less than $1 per day. And moderate poverty is those who are living on less than $2 per day. Between the two categories, in 2001, there were over 3.8 billion people living under these conditions. These people have to live without the basic needs to live what the world considers to be the standard of living.

There are people who are poverty stricken in every country around the world and it has been a problem that many governments have denied or turned their backs on for many years. They expect the people who do have money to help those who don’t have it (which helps but is not the whole answer. There has been billions of dollars paid into taxes each year for years and there is never enough put into the aid of these people who do not have homes, have no roof over their heads or food to eat. If the government would stop wasting money and the rich would stop wasting money, and put it to good use, there would not be a man, woman, or child alive who would be hungry, and every one of them would have a roof over their heads.

There are a lot of people who are just barely making ends meet who still find it in their hearts to help those less fortunate. It is a shame those who do have money and could share it, do not share as much as they could. They would rather buy a purse or mink for thousands of dollars when this could feed many people for a long time. Or the guy who has to have four or five sports cars in his garage near his mansion. He has only one license and can only drive one car at a time, so why the need for that many? It is a needless waste and it is a shame that they do not even think twice about the less fortunate. Greed and control is the problem with this world.
