errr... retirement will be on your own imo..not from the company who
will lay your sorry ass off at the very first opportunity to hire one
of the hundreds of thousands of half starved chinese PhD's who can
solve their problem.. for peanuts.

My advice, start your own independent lab.... do contract research for
larger companies, no contract, no research...you do it your way. You
do not spill your brains for them, they get only the bare minimum
defined by your carefully worded contract. Specialize, pick a very
narrow niche. (screens out compeititors who will not spend the time
in what is to them a peripheral area)

Counting on todays corporate scum for your retirement is completely
insane.. that however is how our school system cultures a person to
think.
