So, you mean that they may give me more "management" duties, but the
actual amount of it will vary wildly according to the mood of the
managemnt of the day, and then in few years I may fell out of favor
with the managemnt, and my "management" duties will reduce to close to
zero ? And this cycle will happen several times all over ? I presume
you are telling this from the height of your experience.

Actually, this is the only thing I am looking so far. The problem is
that the paycheck is proportional to the grade of your appointment.
And you reach a higher appointment grade only if you become a manager.
And in order to become a manager, you have to be supported by your
management, and "pushed up". In order for the management to give you
the management duties, they have to become confident that you can do
these kind of duties (apart from the fact that the managemnt should
not feel threatened by your desire to pull on yourself the manager's
power).
Thus, I have to strive to become a manager of one sort or another, in
order to see my paycheck increased. And that's what I am trying to do
now, with the many hurdles, alas.
